FTP service

I installed the FTP service on my (XP) remote computer today. That's pretty cool that a normal OS supports something like FTP and web services. The hardest part was figuring out where you go to install it.

After installing it I downloaded a 6MB file. I was hoping it would be faster than using a file share to a remote computer. It wasn't anything noticably faster. Then considering the security holes I had opened up on the computer and the (lack) or speed, I decided to uninstall and go back to using file shares.

It will be nice in the future when a broadband connection is equally fast in both directions, upload besides download. I can't wait for that.

Hello World

Yes... I am a developer. We are required by union rules to start every new thing with the famous "Hello World".

Just think if Thomas Edison was inventing the telephone today. "Watson come quick I need you" would be "Hello world".
